NC Names Newcomer of the Month

Youngster Danny Velasquez emerged as the latest National Conference Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Mexico City deserved the honor, batting .318 with 4 home runs and 14 runs batted in. Is the month of May a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Velasquez enjoy the limelight.
In his season totals, Velasquez has 5 home runs, .325 BA, .406 OBP, 23 RBIs and 36 runs scored. He has played in 51 games.

Rookie Pitcher Reels in AC Award

No doubt about it!
Boston starter Kory Pullar earned his American Conference Rookie of the Month award.
He made that very clear as he mowed his way through league hitters in May.
For the month the 23-year-old Pullar recorded a 3-2 won-lost mark with a 2.52 ERA and 29 strikeouts in 39.1 innings.
To this point in the season Pullar has 6 wins and 4 losses and a 3.34 ERA.
