Daytona Beach Snaps Sheedy Streak at 31
Sunday, April 21st , 2024
Carolina third baseman Dustin Sheedy came into today's game against the Daytona Beach Sea Turtles on a hot streak. He left on a cold one.

The Sea Turtles did their jobs well, beating the Carolina Reapers, 6-4, and holding Sheedy hitless to snap his 31-game hitting streak. The 24-year-old third baseman had a few words to say after finishing 0-for-3, telling reporters only that he "came up short."

"What Dustin did was exciting and quite an achievement," said Reapers manager Julio Rodriguez. "It's tough enough to get one hit in this league, much less go 31 games in a row. I'm even more proud of the way he handled the press coverage. He never let the frenzy get to him or affect his play."

So far this season, Sheedy has gotten 29 hits in 80 at-bats for a .362 batting average with 4 home runs. His stats include 14 RBIs and 14 runs scored. He has played in 21 games.
