Desperados Heading to Championship Series Monday, October 9th , 2023 After eliminating the Halifax Heathens 4-0 in the Divisional Series at Dell Diamond, the victorious Austin Desperados will now move on to the next round: the Championship Series. Austin beat Halifax 4-1 in the series. The MVP trophy was awarded to Desperados first baseman Jim Sykora, who knocked in 7 runs, hit .389 and scored 4 times. "The guys were all chanting 'M-V-P' when I went into the clubhouse," Sykora said later, with a smile. "It was kind of embarrassing but it feels great to be here." The Austin Desperados don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Boston Whistlers - Philadelphia Marauders series. Philadelphia leads the series 3 games to 2.
