Sea Turtles End Rangel Streak
Friday, August 16th , 2024
Philadelphia center fielder Pedro Rangel came into today's game against the Daytona Beach Sea Turtles on a hot streak. He left on a cold one.
The Sea Turtles did their jobs well, beating the Philadelphia Marauders, 10-3, and holding Rangel hitless to snap his 20-game hitting streak. The 26-year-old center fielder had a few words to say after finishing 0-for-4, telling reporters only that he "came up short."
"What Pedro did was exciting and quite an achievement," said Marauders manager Danny Ordaz. "It's tough enough to get one hit in this league, much less go 20 games in a row. I'm even more proud of the way he handled the press coverage. He never let the frenzy get to him or affect his play."
So far this year, Rangel is batting .268 with 22 home runs and 63 RBIs.
