Julio Hit Streak Soars to 40 Games
Tuesday, August 6th , 2024
With 3 hits at Ahoy Park, Clemente Julio added another game to his hitting streak -- the Phoenix first baseman has now hit safely for 40 games in a row. But the hitting feat wasn't enough for the Gladiators, as they fell, 15-12, to the Tampa Bay Captains.
"Frankly, I don't care about hits," Tampa Bay manager Roberto Quesada said later. "I'll let him get 5 hits in 5 at-bats if it means we get a win." Clemente Julio doubled in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, hit a two-run double in the 4th, grounded out in the 5th, singled in the 8th and walked in the 9th.
Julio is hitting at a .319 mark this season. His stats show 15 home runs, 77 RBIs and 60 runs scored. He has played 115 games for the Gladiators.
