San Diego, Tampa Bay Confirm Trade Wednesday, July 31st , 2024 Reports have surfaced that San Diego has agreed to send 23-year old LHP Edwin Montez to the Tampa Bay Captains in exchange for 30-year old LHP Jesse Vecchio. "It's a done deal," said one executive speaking on the condition of anonymity. "I'm surprised word got around so quickly. We just signed off on this an hour ago." The deal apparently is awaiting physicals before an official announcement is made by either team. In 17 relief appearances this season, Montez has 1 save. He has 1 win and no losses, 3.62 ERA and 43 strikeouts in 37.1 innings. For the year, Vecchio has made 40 relief appearances and claimed 24 saves. His record is 3-6 with 45 strikeouts in 50 innings and a 3.42 ERA. |
