Four-bagger Feast: Ariëns Slugs 3 for Phoenix Sunday, June 11th , 2023 Ton Ariëns went on a hitting rampage at Nightmare Stadium and got membership in the select club of hitters who have hit three home runs in a game. He walloped three into the stands to pace the Gladiators to a win, 12-9, over the New York Nightmare. The Phoenix third baseman collected 4 hits in 7 at-bats, drove in 8 and scored 3 runs. "I don't know, you never know when things are going to fall into place," he told the press after his big game. "Today, I didn't have any special insight or adjustment, I just happened to get three pitches I was ready for." Ton Ariëns grounded out in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Joe Schroeder in the 4th, hit a three-run home run off Joe Schroeder in the 6th, doubled in the 8th, struck out in the 10th, flied out in the 12th and hit a three-run home run off Gary Montgomery in the 14th. So far this season, Ariëns is batting .282 with 20 home runs. |
