Toronto first baseman Sam Salas had a good game, even if his team did not. The Trash Pandas dropped a 4-3 decision to Daytona Beach at Leatherback Park. Salas hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Daytona Beach pitcher Jon Haynes got the win, upping his record to 1-0. Tom Mott got the loss. Daytona Beach sits at 3-5.

The defining moment came in the bottom of the ninth for Daytona Beach. That's when Derek Maher hit a 2-run home run off 32-year old right-handed pitcher Tom Mott to win the game. The home crowd went wild.

"We made a couple of mistakes," said Toronto skipper Walt DeRosier, "and it cost us."
