Invaders Deal Heathens 8-5 Defeat
The Oakland Invaders weathered an outstanding game by Halifax catcher Bruce Richards to topple the Heathens, 8-5. Richards went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The first-place Heathens now sit at 41-31.

Juan Ortiz had a big 2-run double for the Invaders in the top of the third inning. With Oakland leading 3-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from Jack Ivory, who finished 5th in the AC in ERA with 3.36 last year, and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 28th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Invaders ahead, 5-0.

"It feels good, just a great win all around," Ortiz said after the game.
