Extra innings were needed to determine a winner at Scorpion Stadium.

The timely hitting of Jason Leuci helped the Vancouver Caribou down the Syracuse Scorpions, 8-5. Leuci went 2 for 2 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 for the Caribou. Tommy LaBiche claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 2 innings. His record stands at 5-2. John Gray sewed up the save, his 1st.

The result might have been different, had it not been for 22-year old shortstop John Hunt. Hunt had a bases-clearing double in the top of the 11th inning to put the Caribou ahead, 8-5. For the game, Hunt had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"Sometimes winning takes more than 27 outs," said Caribou manager Pete Clark.

Vancouver has run its win streak to 4 straight.
