The Maine Pines had to overcome a fine effort from Syracuse pitcher John Froerer to win, 4-2, at Scorpion Stadium. Froerer went 6.1 innings and allowed 4 runs. Maine reliever Chris Radke picked up the win, raising his record to 4-0. John Froerer was tagged with the loss. Dan Mills collected save number 15.

Jay McBurney had a direct impact on the outcome. McBurney contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put Maine up, 4-1.

"Bottom line," said Syracuse skipper Ricardo Lopez, "we didn't play well enough to win."

With the win, Maine raised its record to 46-24.
