23ers Lose to Marauders, 5-3
|
The Philadelphia Marauders got a rain-soaked win over the Fountain Hills 23ers.
The Marauders grabbed a win, 5-3, at Marauders Ballpark, overcoming a fine effort from Fountain Hills pitcher Tom Mott. Mott went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs. Chris Jacoby picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 3-0. Joe Woolverton was tagged with the loss.
Had Bobby Roe not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Roe hit a 2-run single. That made the score 5-3, in favor of the Marauders.
"I really like what we did out there today," Roe said after the game.
Philadelphia is now 39-26, 9 games up in the American Conference North East Division.
