Eagles 3B Mendez hits 2 home runs in Win
Victor Mendez left his imprint on the 11-6 Indianapolis win against the Cincinnati Royals. Mendez, who is tied for 10th in the NC in stolen bases with 15, was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3. The winning pitcher was Ray Dappen. He's now 5-7. He went 6 innings, allowing 5 runs on 10 hits for the Eagles. Kyle Schroeder recorded the save for Indianapolis, his 2nd of the season.

Indianapolis used a timely hit from Justin Shaffer to get the win. The shortstop delivered a bases-clearing triple in the top of the seventh inning to put the Eagles on top, 9-5. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"We take it day by day here," said Shaffer, "and today was a good one for us."

Indianapolis is now 36-29.
