Hollywood Defeated By Caribou, 3-2
|
The Vancouver Caribou earned a close win over the Hollywood Stars, thanks in part to Joe Brackett. The Vancouver left-hander, who is tied for 9th in the NC with a 10.3 K/9 rate, played a key role in the 3-2 victory. Jeff Cox, credited with the save, is now 17 for 18 in save opportunities. Vancouver is now 36-28, Hollywood 25-39.
Gerardo Romero had a big solo home run for the Caribou in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Vancouver leading 2-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a forkball from Logan Mayhew, who is tied for 8th in the NC with a 10.4 K/9 rate, and punished it. The result was his 4th home run of the season, which put the Caribou on top, 3-0.
"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Romero told the Vancouver Observer.
