Fleet Get Clutch Win Versus Hollywood
|
The San Diego Fleet polished off the Hollywood Stars by the score of 5-4. The largest share of the credit belonged to left fielder Jon Pitts. Pitts went 2 for 3 with a double and 2 walks. He scored 2 times for the Fleet. Brad Antol came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. His record now stands at 3-2. The National Conference West Division-leading Fleet are 38-25.
Had Pitts not come through in the top of the ninth, who knows how the game would've ended? But with two down, Pitts hit a run-scoring single. The Fleet took the lead, 5-4, and never looked back.
"The guys come to the ballpark ready," said Fleet manager Brian Burnett. "They're going out there and doing the simple things right."
