Royals Get Hard-Earned Win
Hannaford Dome was the site of a tense game between the Maine Pines and Cincinnati Royals.

The Cincinnati Royals got a magnificent effort from pitcher Greg Sandlin, who kept Maine hitters in check en route to a 2-1 Royals win at Hannaford Dome. Gordie Clifford earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record is now 5-2.

Cincinnati used a timely hit from Pat Kirchner to get the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Royals ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"I just tried to focus on getting that first guy out every inning," said Sandlin.
