Branden Covington, who is tied for 6th in the AC with a 11.2 K/9 rate, imposed his will on the Gladiators from the get-go. Relying mainly on his fastball, the left-hander spearheaded the 5-0 Halifax triumph. The third-place Heathens have won 4 consecutive games.

Leo Orozco dealt the Gladiators a blow in the bottom of the fifth. Batting with the bases loaded and Halifax leading 2-0, Orozco, who is tied for 10th in the AC in hits with 65, hit a full count fastball for a 2-run single.

"The vibe's good," said Halifax manager David Morris. "We've got to keep it going."
