Andy Weatherholt, who led the NC in wins with 17 in 2023, was locked in. The left-hander led the Charleston Sea Dogs to a 7-5 win against the Syracuse Scorpions at Ballpark of Charleston. Weatherholt, now 8-1, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 5, walking 3, and allowing no runs. Charleston has run its win streak to 5 in a row.

In the bottom of the third inning, left fielder Juan Ortiz had a run-scoring double for Charleston. It was his 14th double of the season and put the Sea Dogs on top, 1-0.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Ortiz. "And not try to do too much."
