Invaders Deal Captains 6-5 Loss
The Oakland Invaders weathered an outstanding game by Tampa Bay third baseman Steve Post to topple the Captains, 6-5. Post went 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Evan Pullman was the winner. He's now 4-4. The loser was 29-year old left-handed pitcher Jesse Vecchio. John Salgado, credited with the save, is now 10 for 11 in save opportunities.

Oakland used the timely hitting of Pat Marchitto to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Invaders on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

In postgame comments, Marchitto told the Oakland Bulletin: "Do people still doubt I give 100 percent?"

With the win, Oakland raised its record to 33-27.
