Philadelphia Scrapes Out 4-2 Win
|
The Philadelphia Marauders picked up a win at San Francisco Grounds, knocking off the San Francisco Fire, 4-2. On the mound for Philadelphia was right-hander Xavier Cooper. He played a key role in the triumph. Cooper, now 7-2, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 9, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. Vince Mellon was credited with the save for Philadelphia, his 2nd of the season.
Philadelphia needed the clutch hitting of Manuel Rosas to seal the deal. The center fielder swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Marauders on top, 4-2. For the game, Rosas had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Philadelphia manager Danny Ordaz.
The Marauders now have a mark of 41-18.
