The San Francisco Fire besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Vancouver first baseman Jason Coppa by beating the Caribou, 7-6, at Mounties Field. Coppa went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. Chris Benson, 7-8, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. The defeat makes Vancouver 61-97.

Malcolm Babcock came through with a big-time hit for San Francisco. The designated hitter smacked a solo home run in the top of the 11th inning to give his team the lead, 7-6. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"It's the best feeling when you come through for your teammates," said Babcock.
