The Detroit Giants beat the Vancouver Mounties, 6-4. Detroit pitcher and Los Angeles, California, native Nick Turpen led the way. Turpen got the win, improving to 6-3. He gave up 4 hits and walked 3 over 7.1 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Devin Wickliffe finished to wrap up his 9th save.

Glenn Valentine drove in one run for Detroit. The 24-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Nick Douglass. It was his 17th RBI of the season.

"Win or lose, we always try to grind it out and stay even-keeled," Turpen said in reaction to the win.

Detroit is 33-26 and Vancouver, with the loss, 22-37.
