Fire Drop Fleet, 8-5
|
The San Francisco Fire topped the San Diego Fleet, 8-5, in 12 innings. San Francisco shortstop Jared Priest, in particular, was impressive. He went 3-5 with 2 doubles and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. The winner in relief was Chris Benson. He is now 6-8. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 3 innings. San Francisco is now 65-90, while San Diego is 93-62.
San Francisco took advantage of an error in the top of the 12th inning. The game was tied, 5-5, when Ethan Morris hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put the Fire in front, 6-5.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Morris said.
