Maine Pines starter Matt Graham turned in a sterling performance against the Phoenix Gladiators, leading his team to a thin, 3-2 win in 10 innings. The win belonged to Chris Hames in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Manny Brant took the loss for Phoenix. Maine now sits at 40-18, while Phoenix falls to 29-29.

The game-ending blow was delivered by Jose Valverde in the bottom of the tenth. That's when he hit a solo home run off 23-year old right-handed pitcher Manny Brant to win it for Maine and cause the home crowd to erupt in celebration.

"The game of baseball will test you," said David Whigham, the Maine skipper. "This one tested us."
