The Indianapolis Eagles weathered a fine game by Chicago center fielder Eduardo Acosta to upend the Gangsters, 6-5, at The Hideout. Acosta went 2-3 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Picking up the win was Ray Dappen. He went 6.1 innings, allowing 4 runs on 11 hits. The right--hander struck out 5 and walked 3. The win elevated the Eagles to 81-70.

Henry Cortez had a big 3-run home run for the Eagles in the top of the second inning. With Indianapolis leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a sinker from 26-year old left-handed pitcher Jesse Keim and punished it. The result was his 29th home run of the season, which put the Eagles on top, 5-0.

"I like the grit of this ballclub," Cortez said.
