Nightmare 3-2 Victors Over Austin
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the New York Nightmare and Austin Desperados.
The Austin Desperados got a superb performance from pitcher J.R. Mitchell, but the New York Nightmare still won the game, 3-2. Mitchell threw 7.2 innings of 2-hit ball. The winner was New York reliever John Dollar, now 5-10. The loser was Bob Baucke. Tony Rosario notched his 22nd save in 28 chances.
New York used the timely hitting of Ben Callahan to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Nightmare on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Callahan told the New York Times.
With the win, New York upped its record to 76-75.
