The Syracuse Scorpions got a good effort from starter Matt Simpson in defeating the Maine Pines at Oakhurst Field. The final score was 3-2. Syracuse is now 72-78, Maine 91-59.

The Scorpions got a big hit from right fielder Billy Totten. In the top of the sixth, Totten smacked a 2-run double off Maine pitcher Dan Miller. It was his 30th double of the season. Suddenly, the Scorpions were ahead, 3-2.

"If you ever get this game figured out," said Maine manager David Whigham, "let me know."
