Whistlers Topple Eagles, 5-4, as Kirkham Shines
|
Willie Kirkham made an impact in the 5-4 Boston win over Indianapolis. Kirkham hit 3 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored three times. Boston, at 85-64, is 16½ games up in the American Conference Central Division.
Kirkham had a timely hit for Boston in the top of the ninth. With Boston trailing 4-3, he turned a first pitch curveball into a 2-run home run. It was his 24th home run of the season, making it 5-4, Boston.
"What's not to like about a win?" said Kirkham.
