Fleet Come Back Late, Nip Shiners
Despite a fine performance by designated hitter Tim Hutchison, the Charleston Shiners lost to the San Diego Fleet, 5-4. Hutchison was 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. San Diego reliever Adam Werth was the winner. His record is now 2-0. The losing pitcher was Jon Reynolds. Picking up the save was Brad Antol, his 22nd.

San Diego took a 5-4 lead on Sergio Portillo's 2nd double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Portillo hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Charleston pitcher Jon Reynolds visibly frustrated.

"I'm just looking to see the ball, hit the ball," said Portillo.

The triumph puts San Diego at 87-60 for the season.
