The Toronto Trash Pandas knocked off the Syracuse Scorpions, 5-3, at Trash Panda Field. Phil Tibbits was a big reason Toronto won. The designated hitter went 1-2 with 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs. The loss makes Syracuse 71-76.

The Scorpions had been locked in a 3-3 tie with the Trash Pandas going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 28-year old second baseman Brian Marquez came to the plate. Marquez hit a run-scoring double on a 1-2 fastball from Syracuse hurler Greg Brittingham. It was Marquez's 20th double of the year.

Toronto manager Walt DeRosier called it "a darn good win."
