The Boston Whistlers and Charleston Sea Dogs engaged in a real slobberknocker.

The Boston Whistlers outlasted David Edgemon and the Charleston Sea Dogs, 9-8. Edgemon was impressive in the loss. The Charleston pitcher threw 5.1 innings of 3-hit ball. Boston reliever Nate Benson got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Mario Barillas was tagged with the loss. Blake Bryant earned the save for Boston, his 37th of the year.

Boston used a timely hit from Brad MacNeil to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Whistlers ahead, 9-8. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a difference-maker.

"You start putting runs on the board and winning, everyone's going to get excited," said MacNeil.

Boston has now won 4 games in a row.
