Syracuse Beats Carolina, 3-1
|
Riding the 3-hit performance of the 29-year old third baseman Nate Volk, the Syracuse Scorpions defeated the Carolina Reapers, 3-1. Dylan Diggs claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 4 hits in 3.2 innings. His record stands at 8-11. The Scorpions are now 71-75, while the Reapers fall to 64-82.
Chris Service, who is tied for 9th in the AC in triples with 5, had a direct impact on the outcome. Service contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put Syracuse up, 2-0.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Syracuse manager Josh Gifford.
