Ward goes 4-for-5 in San Francisco Win
|
Behind a fine performance from Dusty Ward, the San Francisco Fire knocked off the Vancouver Caribou, 8-3. Ward went 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles. He drove in 5 runs and scored once for the Fire. San Francisco pitcher Pat Daughtry earned the win, hiking his record to 10-8. Mike Criswell suffered the loss. Keith Hawes earned his 10th save, after closing out the game.
Ward had a big at-bat with the bases loaded in the bottom of the fifth inning, when he hit a run-scoring single. The Fire went on to win.
Ward told the San Francisco Daily: "I'm the straw that stirs the drink."
The losses continue to add up for Vancouver, having now dropped 8 straight.
