The Austin Desperados defeated the Cincinnati Royals, 5-4, in part because of center fielder John Austin. Austin went 3 for 3 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs for the Desperados. Austin pitcher Bob Baucke earned the win, hiking his record to 2-1. Cameron Hutchinson suffered the loss. The Desperados now have a record of 32-25 with the win over Cincinnati.

The Desperados got a clutch hit from catcher Dave Jimenez. In the bottom of the tenth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Desperados.

"To not win that game stings a little bit," said Cincinnati manager Justin Aaron.
