Austin starter Luke Scrimger put a stranglehold on the Toronto offense. The left-hander had complete command of his changeup in leading the Desperados to a 2-1 win. Scrimger, now 10-14, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 6, walking 0, and allowing 1 run. The third-place Desperados improved to 68-71.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Drew Riggi? The Austin second baseman had a run-scoring double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Desperados on top, 2-1. For the game, Riggi had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"You have to win 1-0, 3-2, 2-1 games if you want to get to where you want to go," said Desperados manager Adam Ponder.
