Detroit Makes Vancouver 8-4 Losers
|
The Detroit Giants picked up a win at Mounties Field, knocking off the Vancouver Caribou, 8-4. Starting pitcher Julian Bryant played a key role in the triumph. Bryant, who is tied for 9th in the AC with a 9.5 K/9 rate, went the distance for Detroit. He gave up 4 runs on 7 hits. Detroit is now 64-74, Vancouver 55-83.
Detroit used the timely hitting of Billy Sawyer to capture the win. The pinch hitter socked a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Giants ahead, 5-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a big one.
"We just try to have good at-bats, whether we're winning, losing, or tied," said Sawyer.
