Chicago Beaten, 4-3, by Charleston
|
The Charleston Sea Dogs picked up a win at The Hideout, dropping the Chicago Gangsters, 4-3. David Edgemon, who led the NC in wins with 17 last year, was the difference-maker. The first-place Sea Dogs, at 91-46, lead the National Conference South Division by 25½ games.
Charleston used the timely hitting of Marcos Villarreal to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Sea Dogs on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Really good pitchers have that ability to raise their game when they need to," said Charleston manager Chad Hart.
