The Halifax Heathens beat the Toronto Trash Pandas, 8-5, at Estadio Azteca. Nick Sumney, who is a two-time All-Star, starred for Halifax. He was 2-5 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. The win was credited to Steve McManus in relief. His record improves to 3-4. Jose Cabral took the loss. Jeff Buck got the save, his 40th in 43 chances.

With the game tied, 5-5, in the bottom of the sixth, Sumney had a key at-bat for Halifax. With the bases loaded, Sumney hit a 2-run single off Jose Cabral, making the score 7-5, Heathens.
