Syracuse left fielder Billy Totten had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 9-4, to Oakland at Scorpion Stadium. Totten was 3 for 4 with 2 home runs and a double. Picking up the win was Carlos Mendez. He went 5 innings, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits. The left--hander struck out 2 and walked 3. With the win, Oakland raised its record to 28-28.

Oakland used a well-timed hit by Ruben Alamo to capture the win. The shortstop socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Invaders ahead, 4-1. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"Winning the game is always the first objective," Alamo said.
