Eagles Prevail, 3-2, Over Halifax
|
Behind a solid performance from third baseman Victor Mendez, the Indianapolis Eagles defeated the Halifax Heathens, 3-2. Mendez slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Eagles. Billy Westcott notched his 6th save in 7 chances. The loss makes Halifax 75-59.
Mendez had a timely hit for Indianapolis in the bottom of the sixth. With Indianapolis trailing 2-1, he turned a 2-2 fastball into a 2-run home run. It was his 18th home run of the season, making it 3-2, Indianapolis.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Indianapolis manager Pete DuBay.
