Reapers Earn Clutch Win, 8-7
The Tampa Bay Captains could not turn a fine performance from third baseman Steve Post into a win. Instead, the Carolina Reapers prevailed, 8-7. Post was 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Carolina reliever Brian Finkel was the winner. His record is now 4-1. The losing pitcher was Carlos Barraza. The Reapers improved their record to 61-72 by beating Tampa Bay.

Had Adam Pelfrey not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Pelfrey hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 8-7, in favor of the Reapers.

"It's always nice to be on the winning side," Pelfrey told the Carolina Bulletin. "But we take nothing for granted."
