Tyler Kraus imposed his will on the Captains from the get-go. Relying mainly on his sinker, the right-hander spearheaded the 4-1 Syracuse triumph. Ken Allbaugh closed it out for his 34th save. The Scorpions now own a record of 64-66.

Syracuse second baseman Javier Tarango made an impact. He drilled a single in the bottom of the fifth. In the contest, Tarango went 2-3 with 2 singles and was hit by a pitch.

Kraus said his team "played with focus."
