The Cincinnati Royals, behind a great outing from Andy Dooley, who finished 2nd in the NC in strikeouts with 282 in 2019, defeated the Phoenix Gladiators, 2-0, at The Castle. Cincinnati is now 36-19, while Phoenix is 28-27.

The Gladiators had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Royals going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the slugging left fielder Eric Hayes came to the plate. Hayes hit a solo home run on a full count sinker from Phoenix hurler Rob Alvarez. It was Hayes's 13th home run of the year.

"It was just a matter of executing," said Cincinnati manager Justin Aaron.
