Giants Prevail, 4-2, Over Hollywood
|
The Detroit Giants and Hollywood Stars played an exciting game.
The Detroit Giants rode a solid performance from 27-year-old starting pitcher Mike Wroten to a win, beating the Hollywood Stars, 4-2, at Ballpark of Detroit. Wroten, now 4-6, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. Devin Wickliffe earned his 1st save, after closing out the game.
Steve McLaughlin hit a 2-run home run off Logan Mayhew in the bottom of the fifth, which put the Giants ahead, 3-1. In addition to the homer, McLaughlin had 1 double, while going 2 for 4.
McLaughlin attributed the win to his team's "determination."
The win has Detroit at 18-36.
