The Vancouver Caribou had to overcome a fine effort from San Francisco pitcher James Dobyns to win, 5-3, in 10 innings at San Francisco Grounds. Dobyns went 8 innings and allowed 3 runs. Vancouver pitcher Jeff Cox got the win. He's now 3-4. Keith Hawes was tagged with the loss. Felix Flores closed it out for his 1st save.

Vancouver used the clutch hitting of Gerardo Romero to snag the win. The right fielder drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Caribou ahead, 5-3. It was his lone hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.

"Sometimes winning takes more than 27 outs," said Caribou manager Pete Clark.

Vancouver goes to 29-22. The win puts them 2 games up in their division.
