Charleston wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Andy Weatherholt, falling to the Carolina Reapers, 9-2. Weatherholt threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. Bobby Corbo, now 1-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 3.2 innings. The Reapers, at 21-30, inhabit third place in the National Conference South Division.

Carolina won the game in part because of Jose Lazaro. The third baseman ripped a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Reapers ahead, 3-2. For the game, Lazaro had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.

"We took a roundhouse punch to the chin," said losing manager Chad Hart.
