Indianapolis Loses, 5-3, in 12
|
The San Diego Fleet faced a tough opponent in Indianapolis pitcher John Hennig, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Eagles Stadium by a final score of 5-3 in 12 innings. Hennig went 7.1 innings and allowed no runs. With the win, San Diego has a record of 27-21. Indianapolis falls to 26-22.
San Diego needed the clutch hitting of Paul Pittman to seal the deal. The third baseman swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the 12th inning to put the Fleet on top, 5-3. For the game, Pittman had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
Pittman called the win "a lesson in teamwork."
