In a low-scoring contest between the Daytona Beach Sea Turtles and the New York Nightmare, Mark Dudley was the X factor. The Daytona Beach right-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win. Jeff Adams sewed up the save, his 10th. At 18-27, Daytona Beach is in last place in the National Conference South Division.
Derek Maher went 1-3 for Daytona Beach. With one out and the game tied in the bottom of the seventh inning, Maher, who finished 3rd in the NC in extra base hits with 71 in 2020, had a clutch at-bat. Facing New York hurler Gary Montgomery, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Sea Turtles a 3-2 lead.
"If you ever get this game figured out," said New York manager Joey Bishop, "let me know."
