Daytona Beach starter Oscar Ayala kept the Maine offense from doing much damage. The right-hander leaned on his curveball in leading the Sea Turtles to a 5-1 win. With the loss, Maine falls to 4-1.

Ayala, a native of San Rafael del Yuma, Dominican Republic, was dealing all game. He kept Maine hitters off-balance, while giving the Sea Turtles 8.1 quality innings. Ayala threw 103 pitches, allowing 3 hits and striking out 6.

Ayala called the win "a lesson in teamwork."
