The Toronto Trash Pandas had to reckon with San Diego Fleet hurler Takeji Takano. Takano, who is tied for 3rd in the NC with a 11.5 K/9 rate, overwhelmed the opposition in the 6-0 Fleet triumph. In 6.1 innings, Takano surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 9 and walking 0. He allowed no runs. The setback makes Toronto 23-22.

The Fleet had to work out of trouble in the bottom of the ninth. The score was 6-0, San Diego, with no one out. Toronto, with runners on 1st and 2nd, was mounting a threat. Frank Andreoni dug in at the plate, but on a 0-2 cutter, he struck out.
